An early dress watch from Le Cheminant, with a good quality movement as usual with this brand.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

The Peseux 320 movement is a quality item, but it was in production for a while from circa 1950.  However, this website has helped us identify that this is an earlier version without shock protection, but with screwed balance and fixed hairspring adjuster.  We also know that Le Cheminant watch production was restarted in the late 1950’s, so 1958 seems a good overlap of both facts.

CONDITION

The gold plating is good, but does have wear marks between the lugs where a bracelet has rubbed over the years.  This is difficult to see with the strap fitted.  The movement is running nicely, and Peseux movements are still prized, even being used by brands as exclusive as Blancpain.  The stainless steel case back has been lightly polished to improve some tool marks.  The crystal is new, and reveals an unlumed, clean dial underneath – so clean for the age that we have added a photo of the dial without the glass fitted to show just how nice it is without any reflections.  That slim, 3.1mm thick movement allows a subtle depth for the case to work perfectly as a dress watch.  We have added a new black lizard pattern leather strap with gold tone buckle.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
