HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Olma have been making watches since the 1920’s, but the Nivaflex technology stated on the dial of this watch was not available until 1952. We have a copy of an advert from 1956 of a Olma watch with Nivaflex on the dial, just like this one, so that date (which also fits the movement production) is a good candidate. We can not be more precise on this brand.
CONDITION
You can see the dial on this watch has patina, but if that bothered you I doubt you are reading this. Lots of people love patina, as it makes each watch completely individual. Not that you seem many Olma watches in the UK anyway, but they are extremely popular in Northern Europe. It is certainly nicely put together, with a stainless steel case having a screw down back, which is itself nicely decorated. The lugs have nice bevels, and the drill lugs make strap changing easy. The ETA movement is a 17 jewel calibre 2370, manually would and running nicely. The acrylic crystal has been polished to remove almost all scratches. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
