This is a very clean Hamilton Powell vintage watch, with their Made in the USA hand wound movement.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The Powell was produced by Hamilton between 1955 and 1958, so we have picked a mid point year.
CONDITION
This watch doesn’t look 70 years old, but it is. One thing that helps is the case is 10k gold filled, and as gold filled cases have a much thicker layer of gold than say a gold plated case that makes a difference. But the dial is exceptionally clean, and we would suggest the owner of this watch wasn’t a smoker – tar often covers the dial of smokers watches, but this is crisp. Inside the case is Hamilton’s calibre 730 movement, hand wound with seventeen jewels and shock protected, which is working well. The crown isn’t signed, but we would expect that – Hamilton didn’t introduce their stylised H logo unto 1960. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case and movement.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
