This is an inexpensive vintage watch from Rotary form the 1950’s, and a nice way to start or enhance any collection.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

Going on the production dates of the FHF 350 movement, and combining it with period adverts and Rotary’s own website, we have settled on circa 1955.  It was about then that Rotary switched to the winged logo, and this has the earlier, underlined one.

CONDITION

We debated whether to offer this watch on our site.  The dial is stained on the crown side, and the gold plate is worn on non crown side.  But we decided to list is because the qualities of good timekeeping, a great price and a fabulous thick ZRC bracelet (that may be worth more than the asking price of the watch!) outweighed the negatives.

The dial is the biggest downside.  Between 12 and 5 there is a green tinted stain that may have been caused by smoke.  The movement is clean, so we doubt it was water ingress that caused the marks.  The handwinding movement is keeping good time.  The herringbone bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath, and must be thickly plated – even the hammer finished clasp shows no plate wear.  The screw down case back is a nice quality touch.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
