Tudor were established by Rolex as a lower brand – not poor quality by any means, but they use ebauche (bought in) watch movements rather than in house Rolex items.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the watch movement, styling and materials we think this is from circa 1953. That fits when the movement was in production, and also the logo design of a rose (ironically not a Tudor Rose) was used at this period.
CONDITION
The case is good and tight, and the movement is working exactly as it should. The dial is dirty, which is why this watch isn’t much more money. The flame blued hands are a nice original feature. The inside of the case back is marked for the Rolex watch company, and the movement is wonderfully clean. We have fitted a new leather cordette strap which is new old stock from the period.
SIZE
21.0 mm wide including the unsigned crown, 8.0 mm thick. The strap will fit a maximum wrist size of approximately 175 mm.
