A good sized men’s Doxa dress watch in a 14k gold case with manual wind movement.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Steel or gold plated Doxa watches are usually easy to date from the serial number. However in the 1950’s Doxa seemed to have used a different system for their gold watches, and the information for these were lost in a flood in 1966. All we can say is circa 1950.
CONDITION
The movement inside this watch is a Doxa 103, which starts life as an ETA 2391 but Doxa improved the setting lever. It has just been serviced and is running well. The case is in 14k gold, so likely intended for the American market, and is correctly stamped on the inside of the case back. There are some small marks, including on the case back where a straight through strap had been used with the watch. The watch has spring bars and 18mm lugs, so a wide choice of straps are available. The dial has some marks but is all original. Some people would sell this as an oversized watch, and 35mm is big for the period, but oversized is more like 37/38mm for the 1950’s
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
