Here we have a Ladies Girard-Perregaux.  The watch has a manual wind movement with sub seconds display.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

We can date this to circa 1949 from the styling and technology.  The earliest service mark is 1959, but the fixed bar case and lack of shock protection on the movement would indicate the watch was made approximately a decade before this.

CONDITION

Original but worn.  The stainless steel case shows various small scratches and dings, but not abuse.  The hour and minute hand are blued, and the movement is a treat on the eye.  Girard-Perregaux have been making high end watches since 1791, and this is no exception.  The movement is the Girard-Perregaux 82, which is based on the Peseux 220 but with extra detailing and 17 jewels not the fifteen as standard.  The leather strap is new.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
