This manual wind Universal Geneve is in a 35mm case – which would have been considered large back in 1942.  Model reference 25 349.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

The movement used in this watch was first introduced in 1942, so this watch can not be older than this.  This period also fits the styling and choice of material for the case – stainless steel was in high demand for the War effort.

CONDITION

Inside the case is a manually wound calibre 262 Universal Geneve movement, which was launched in 1942.  We have just had this serviced, so it is ready to wear and enjoy.  The case is nickel chrome plated, with some signs of wear on the lug tips but honestly it is pretty good for the age.   This 35mm case size, with 18mm lugs, wears quite modern whereas many 1940’s watches are much smaller.  The dial has some wear to the outer chapter ring, and it is stamped Swiss under 6 but this is not visible in the photographs.  The black leaf hands are easy to read against the off white dial.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred.  The watch is signed on the dial, case and movement.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
