Glycine are more famous now for the 24hr Airman model that came out in 1953, but this earlier watch has a conventional 12 hour dial.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
With a lot of thanks to this very informative website dedicated to Glycine watches. The site shows lots of information, but tellingly the Bienne-Geneve marking on the dial was done between 1936 and 1943, so circa 1940 seems right.
CONDITION
The watch is in stunning condition for something over 75 years old. We bought it in Geneva, Switzerland, so there is every chance that it has not traveled far in all those years! Inside the case is a in-house Caliber 72 manual movement that is a pleasure to wind. The dial is almost spotless, the elegant thin blued hands perfect and the gold plated case doesn’t show any wear either, even in the enlarged photos. We have fitted a new leather strap, so it is ready to wear.
