Still running well, this ladies Omega tank watch is in great condition for it’s age.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Normally we can date Omega watches pretty accurately by the serial number on the movement. However, this movement is shrouded by a metal dust cover that we can not remove. There is a screw to release the stem, but the stem still doesn’t pull out. Rather than risk damage, and with the movement running well, we have decided to leave it alone. We have found an advert from 1931 that features the same case shape, so we are dating this watch from that advert.
CONDITION
We don’t find many ladies Omega tank watches, and at 90 years old or so this good condition. They are nicknamed tank because the case has a similar profile to the early military tanks used in WW1. The case is Acier Staybrite, an earlier term for stainless steel and has fixed lugs. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred. The dial is slightly discoloured, but evenly, and doesn’t have any radium on it (radium was used for ‘glow in the dark’ lume, but it is still radioactive today.) The blued hands are good. The movement is either the Omega 12.5 or 12.6, and it is strong. The petite dimensions are typical for the time in high quality watches, and this would have been the height of fashion.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
