Still in the supplying jewellers box, this Zenith pocket watch is in good cosmetic and running order. Model reference 8459

On the dust cover is an inscription from the Grand Prix Paris 1900, but the watch is later than that (and it has nothing to do with F1 Grand Prix either – it is a prestigious award for the Grand Price (grand prix in French) at the Parisian World Exhibition. Zenith pocket watches would several later prizes too, but they are not mentioned) From the serial number on the movement we can date this watch to being made in circa 1925.

Sadly there is no trace of the supplying jeweller on Preston’s Friargate anymore, but we are talking nearly a hundred years ago so it is understandable. The condition of the watch is very good. The white dial is crisp and clean, with the 24 hour numbers and the logo printed in red. The Breguet style hands are straight and suit the Arabic numerals painted on the dial. The in house caliber N.V.S III is conventionally set and runs well. The case has a few marks on the back – this watch pre dates stainless steel – but they are light. The bow is reassuring stiff, just like it would have been in 1925.

This watch will be supplied with the original jewellers box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
