A circa 1944 Roamer men’s watch, using their in house MST 372 movement set into a 37 mm case, that has survived well and has never been cosmetically restored.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From looking at the movement, which was launched in 1944, this watch has the fixed stud carrier that was on the early ones, and as the case is base metal that has been nickel plated, which was common during the war when stainless steel was hard to get, we estimate this watch was made circa 1944.
CONDITION
What does Oversized mean? There is no set definition that we are aware of, but when men’s watches were typically 29-33mm wide without the crown then oversized was the expression used for a larger watch, and these are the more collectible ones today.
The case does have some wear, most noticeable on the raised lugs, but it would be odd if the watch didn’t show some wear after this time. The dial printing has survived very well and only a small spot near one is worth mentioning on the ivory dial. The movement is working well, and we have replaced the acrylic glass. The strap is a distressed lightly used leather, chosen just because it suits the watch. You can have a new brown or black leather strap if you prefer – just say when you order.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
