A modern watch, this Agelocer has the Tourbillon complication but not the price tag to match, so we had to try one.

From the paperwork we can accurately date this watch to being sold in December 2023.

A tourbillon was conceived by John Arnold and patented by Breguet in 1801, and was translated to HRH George IV (who bought one of the earliest examples) as a ‘whirling-about regulator’.  Basically, to cancel out positional error in watches the whole regulator turns within a cage.  That is especially useful in pocket watches, which often sat in the same position on a waistcoat pocket.  On a wristwatch is it really not needed, as the watch moves through different positions anyway.  But it is still a desirable complication, and not easy to produce even today.  The cheapest Swiss new watch with a Tourbillon we could find is a steel Frederick Constant, at £12,995.  But Agelocer are a Chinese company, and they have bought the cost right down.  The movement used not only has the Tourbillon, but also has twin barrels for longer running power – 80 hours if fully wound.  The fully skeletonised movement sits between sapphire crystals and this colourway is the most legible in our eyes – always a consideration on skeletonised watches.  These are still available from Agelocer, but please bear in mind potential import duty on the price if you are importing from China.  The rest of the review can be found in the video.

This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box, papers and our Certificate of Authenticity.
