HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the guarantee card, which has the same serial number as on the case back, we can accurately date this watch to being sold in March 2021.
CONDITION
Looking at Farer’s website, the Ainsdale II currently available is £535 and the only difference to this watch is on our watch the crown is all bronze, and on the II it has a bronze cap. As you will know if you are a regular here, we are fans of Farer watches. They offer so much for the money – this is a Swiss made split second chronograph with ‘flyback’, in a 316L stainless steel case with sapphire crystal and very good attention to detail (such as the dial colour date wheel), along with clever design. The ‘flyback’ is a term used in mechanical chronographs to allow instant restart, but in this the hands power round clockwise quickly to zero to allow this to function – more Fly Forward than flyback, but the result is the same. The leather strap is the original, and still has the signed buckle. The battery in this model is designed to last 72 months, so shouldn’t need changing until 2027. The watch has very few signs of ever being worn.
Please note – the date does sit correctly in the date window – it is off centre in some of the photos as the watch was approaching midnight.
