HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the paperwork included with the box, which matches the serial number on the inner rehaut near 6, we can accurately date this watch to being sold in February 2019. As the paperwork is stamped by an official Rolex retailer there is still the balance of the five year Rolex warranty for peace of mind. H. L. Brown have been Rolex dealers for decades – we had this co-branded Rolex from 1953 with their name on the dial before!
CONDITION
In 1992 Rolex launched the Yacht-Master. From the outset it was designed to be sportier than a Datejust, but more luxurious than a Submariner. So it is larger than the Datejust and has a sports bezel, but thinner than the Submariner and uses 0.950 Platinum for the bezel. The 120 click bezel is also bi directional, which apparently helps if you are on your Yacht. This reference, 116622, was launched in 2012 and in typical Rolex tradition it is evolution rather than revolution. The movement is the calibre 3135 still, but now the lume is the blue Chromalight, which is very good. The biggest noticeable difference is the blue dial, as the all silver/grey case and dial combination Yacht-Master models didn’t always work for everybody before. But the blue dial adds depth. The complete unavailability of steel sports Rolex models without substantial waits has been ongoing now for a while, and it has made nearly new watches extremely sought after. Proof of this is this grey dial version recently sold at auction for £11,867
The watch is very good. There are tiny marks here and there, as the watch has been worn, but nothing worth singling out. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
