Laco are coming up to their centenary as a watch company, and their Pilot watches have been their mainstay for years.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
This watch was part exchanged with us, and the seller states he bought it new in 2017. Nothing we can find can contradict this. The papers are not dated for the sale of this watch, just with a print date of 03/2015.
CONDITION
Pilot watches are all about being as clear as possible and they were considered oversized in the 1940’s, as their dimensions were far larger than most. And Laco were there, and this model is clearly modeled on the Laco B-uhr (which is very similar to the A. Lange & Söhne models of the same period). The very short hour hand, hand shape, crown design and arrow pointing to 60 all fit the 1940’s design. Where Laco have changed the formula a bit is that the movement in this watch is quartz, and it has a day and date feature. The day is in German, befitting a German made watch. The case is all stainless steel, and has a mark near nine but is otherwise good. The thick leather strap is good quality, and has the signed buckle. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The lume is there but not as effective as say Franck Muller or Seiko – it looks great in the photo studio but fades quite quickly.
This watch will be supplied with the original inner and outer presentation boxes, papers and our Certificate of Authenticity.
