One of just 250 watches made, this chronograph watch was made to celebrate the launch of the Civic Type R for Honda.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
In 2017 Honda launched a new Civic Type R, a 316BHP hot hatch (review of the car here), and to make life easier for us they engraved the case back with 2017. Whether this watch was an item to sell alongside the cars, or gifts to dealers or the press, we do not know.
CONDITION
The watch appears to be unworn – we even had to peel off the glass protector to allow us to take photographs. We did however leave the stickers on the case back. We do not know who made the watch for Honda, but fittingly the ‘engine’ inside is a Japanese Miyota quartz chronograph, which will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. Unusually the chronograph seconds hand is at the subdial at six, allowing the larger central seconds. The main timekeeping hands are black with white tips, no dissimilar to speedo and revcounter needles in cars. The chrono hands are all black, and against a black background they are difficult to read. There is also a 24 hour dial at three. Like the Type R car, this stealth watch is a bit of a beast.
