CONDITION

Tutima were founded in 1927 and quickly established a reputation for great quality, and the 1941 model was their high point.  In 1945, just hours before the end of the war, the factory was bombed and destroyed.  Shortly after the Russians invaded, and like so many other Glashutte based companies production stalled or changed.  Slowly revised since the 60’s, they again were the official pilot watch choice of NATO in 1984, and when the iron curtain fell a new factory was built.  More on the brand history here.

The 1941 watch was recreated in the early nineties and features a modified ETA Valjoux 7760 manually wound chronograph movement.  In 2009 this model originally retailed at £2,600/$3,700US.  This example is hardly worn, as evidenced by the almost new Tutima branded leather strap.  The buckle is original too, and the sapphire glass is perfect.  The lume is bright, and the cathedral hands are perfect.  The oversized crown, designed to be able to be wound while wearing gloves, is a delight to use.  The coin rim bezel is unmarked and has the reference marker at 12.  It will be very hard to find a nicer example.

This watch will be supplied with a large, heavy Tutima wooden presentation box, cardboard outer box, polishing cloth, book on the history of the 1941 chronograph (in German) , instructions and guarantee booklets and our Certificate of Authenticity.
