HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
We sent photos of the dial, movement and the serial number to Longines who confirmed it was sold in 2009.
CONDITION
When it comes to heritage Longines have more than most, dating back to 1832. They have, like a lot of other brands, raided their back catalogue for ideas to reproduce today and this is where the Conquest Heritage comes from. But unlike most of the others, this watch stayed true to the size of the watch. The Conquest collection first launched in 1954, and the watch we have here would not look out of place in a shop window back then. While the size, appearance and plexiglass crystal are all period correct, the movement is a modern upgrade with features like quick set date and a a higher beat rate of 28,800bph. The black dial is excellent, and the rose gold hour markers and hands look fantastic against it. The medallion is still on the case back – these can become loose if the incorrect tool is used to remove the case back, but not in this example. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
