HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the warranty card, which matches the serial number on the case back, we can accurately date this watch to being sold in March 2007.
CONDITION
In the 1930’s two Portuguese merchants asked IWC for a large wrist watch with the accuracy of a pocket watch, and in 1939 the oversized wristwatch range that came to be known as the Portuguese (and now Portugieser) was born. It was large due to the need to use a pocket watch movement to get the precision demanded, and the 41mm case would have seemed huge compared to the standard 30mm ish cases of the day.
Now 41mm is considered a good size for many people, and the case is not even considered thick for a chronograph. The off white or ivory coloured dial has a retro feel to it, and the up and down chronograph layout is typical for this model. The standard timing hands are gold, and the chrono hands are all blued to ensure it is easy to read. The IWC leather strap is in good condition with plenty of life left in it, and the original folding buckle is also fitted.
This watch will be supplied with the original warranty card, an eBay authentication card dated 11/22, an IWC service box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
This watch has been checked against the Watch Register and has not been reported as lost, stolen or implicated in fraud, and a copy of that certificate will also be included.
