This 40mm Chopard Mille Miglia was a chronometer rated watch with big date, and this one has a new Chopard strap too. Model reference 8955.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the supplied paperwork, which matches the serial number on the case back, we can accurately date this watch to being sold in May 2007.
CONDITION
The Mille Miglia was a fast – and dangerous – road race than ran from 1927 until 1957. In 1977 it was revived, only for pre 1957 cars, and Chopard became their timing sponsor in the 1990’s. The glamour of the old race cars, plus the well heeled drivers, were a natural match for Chopard. It is this connection to the Mille Miglia which explains one of the strangest promotion items to be included with a watch – a good quality tyre pressure gauge! It also helps explain the Dunlop pattern on the rubber strap. This model is not the XL, which at 45mm is a bit too large for many wrists. What is large is the calendar window, with split digits like Glashutte or A. Lange & Sohne. The case, bezel and buckle are unpolished so will show light signs of wear. The dial is excellent, with very good lume, and the sapphire crystal is unmarked. The movement is COSC rated, with an ETA base, and it is working well. The rubber strap is brand new, and the original Chopard buckle has been transferred to it.
This watch will be supplied with the original presentation boxes, papers, tyre pressure gauge, the old strap and our Certificate of Authenticity.
This watch has been checked against the Watch Register and has not been reported as lost, stolen or implicated in fraud, and a copy of that certificate will also be included.
