HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in July 2003.
CONDITION
The Arctura models were designed by famed watch designer Jorg Hysek*, and were first launched in 1997. This was a three handed, time and date only watch and it took a while to do a chronograph – the original model description can be found on Seiko’s museum website here.
The movement in this watch is working fine, but as we do not know if it has already had a new capacitor we will change this before sending the watch out. This should ensure it will be fine for the next decade, and being a kinetic watch you will never need to change the battery (there isn’t one!). The dial is very clean under the sapphire glass, and the only real marks to the watch are the scuffs on the bracelet commonly known as desk diving marks. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
*Jorg Hysek trained at Rolex before setting up his own design company. He is most famous for the Vacheron Constantin 222, Tag Heuer Kirium and Breguet Marine models, but he has also worked for Ebel, Cartier, Tiffany and Omega among others before founding his own brand.
