A homage to the Hamilton Everest electric watch produced between 1958 and 1963, this modern take adds a chronograph and date window to the design.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the paperwork supplied we can accurately date this watch to being sold in November 2001.
CONDITION
The original Everest models were powered by the electric calibre 500, 500A and 505 movements that could prove tricky to service (possibly because Hamilton didn’t train their technicians – they launched the worlds first electric watch in 1957, so it was cutting edge technology.). Just as striking were the case designs, with unusual shapes leading the way such as the Ventura or the Everest.
This model is part of the range launched to celebrate those original designs. Gone is the electric movement, and instead we have a far more conventional 23 jewel ETA quartz movement fitted. This will have a new battery fitted before it is sent, and the chronograph correctly set up. At some point one screw holding the case back has been replaced, and the match isn’t perfect. The case and bracelet are all stainless steel, and shows definite signs of wear. It hasn’t been polished. Likewise the glass has multiple light scratches. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath, and is of a good length. But if you preferred you could wear this on a leather strap for a more retro look.
This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box, papers and our Certificate of Authenticity.
