A NOS Baume & Mercier Hampton that features two movements and two sets of hands – perfect for travelers or people making long distance phone calls.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Like all proper New Old Stock (NOS) watches, this was never sold so the guarantee card was never filled in. However, the outer cardboard box has a production sticker bearing the serial number of this watch dated 04/01. We also have a partial list of model numbers for Baume & Mercier, and a similar Hampton model just the last digit one away from this one was launched in 1999 (This is model MOA06792, that was MOA06791), so we know 2001 is the likely date of production.
CONDITION
The watch is new and unworn. It has the booklet, blank guarantee card, inner box and outer box with it, and it is on the original Baume & Mercier strap. That strap is a real giveawy that the watch has never been used – The Hampton models use a similar strap to Cartier, where the tail of the strap tucks under itself to leave a neat finish. If this watch had been worn the strap would have a sharp crease in it where it doubles back, and this one doesn’t have any crease (other than the light one where it was worn for photography and to check the signed clasp was functioning correctly.)
Each dial has their own ETA quartz movement, so unlike a standard GMT or UTC watch this can accommodate time zones that may be 30 minutes out rather than a round hour. It can also be used as a back up – if one battery went flat you can still use the other movement until you get the cell changed.
The two dials each have distinctive hour markers, both in a retro, art deco fashion which perfectly suits the elongated case design. This watch wears far larger than the width suggests because of the length. If anyone has worn a Franck Muller Casablanca they will know about how this feels.
This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box, blank papers and our Certificate of Authenticity.
