HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the warranty paperwork and the receipt we know this watch was sold in January 2000. The serial number on the card matches the one on the case back , and the receipt shows the watch cost €2,380.
EDIT – The watch will have cost 2,380DM, not Euros. The list price was $1,595 in the 1999 wristwatch annual, at a time where a Longines auto would be $1,095
CONDITION
Watches with car links generally fall into two camps. Some car brands license anything to make money in the dealerships, whereas others take it more seriously. Porsche Design fall into the latter, higher quality camp – they have worked with Orfina, IWC, Eterna and now are in house using higher end design and components. So this P10 has a fully stainless steel case and bracelet, and an ETA 2824-2 25 jewel automatic movement, all built and tested by Eterna. The jet black dial has an almost military clarity to it, and it is protected by a sapphire crystal. The quick set date is at three, and uses a black disk with white font to blend with the rest of the dial. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. You could get the P10 with quartz movement and a rubber strap, but the auto with bracelet was the top of the range. Having the bracelet is also cheaper long term – a fabric strap for the latest Porsche design models is £590!
This watch will be supplied with the original presentation inner and outer boxes, papers, receipt and our Certificate of Authenticity. The watch cushion is flaking, as is usual for watches from this period.
This watch has been checked against the Watch Register and has not been reported as lost, stolen or implicated in fraud, and a copy of that certificate will also be included.
