HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
This watch does come with the Grand Seiko guarantee paperwork, but it has not been completed at the time of sale. But from the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in May 2000.
CONDITION
Grand Seiko watches were first launched in 1960, but by the end of the seventies the model line was dropped for awhile, before being reintroduced to the Japanese market in 1988. Always striving for the highest quality in all parts, as well as unbeatable accuracy, they are now a really sought after brand but these ones don’t come up often. This model was launched in 1995 at a price of ¥ 100,000, and is a lesson in doing simple well. All stainless steel, if you do find one of these (or any other GS) always make sure the bracelet fits, as Japanese wrists on average are smaller than western wrists, and finding extra links would be very difficult, but our sister website www.SpareLinks.com may be able to help. The 8J55 quartz movement is highly accurate and the definition of set and forget, whilst also allowing the case to be slim. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. Apart form light marks from being worn it is difficult to fault this example – there is one small mark on the bezel near 8. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
