HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the guarantee card, which also matches the serial number on the case back, we can accurately date this watch to being sold in August 1999.
CONDITION
The jade green dial is the hardest to find, and when we check back through the advertising and brochures for this Kirium model there are no pictures of the green dial at all. If no one sees it then no one will buy it, hence they are scarce now. Inside the case is a chronometer rated automatic movement, ETA’s 2892-A2, so timekeeping is excellent. The Kirium was available in three case sizes, 29mm, 36mm and 39mm and this is the mid size. However, the watch feels smaller than this as the unidirectional bezel and case design with crown guards means the dial is smaller and the sapphire crystal is only 23.5mm wide. The sapphire glass does have a small scratch. The bracelet is also short, so this would only really suit a lady or a guy with quite a small wrist. However there are plenty of extra links available on eBay at about £20 a link if you needed one or two. The Kirium was the ultimate in 1990’s TAG Heuer design principals, and higher quality than you might expect – what other chronometer rated, 200m divers watch could you get for close to the same money?
