The 50th Anniversary moniker pretty much explains why this Seamaster was produced. Model reference 2534.50.00.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The original Seamaster was launched in 1948, but the 50th anniversary model was not just produced in 1998, but stayed available for a good few years. From the serial number on the rear of the lug we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1999.
CONDITION
This 50th anniversary model is, to many people, one of the best specifications for a Seamaster Omega produced in all 50 years. The automatic movement is chronometer rated, and has the GMT hand that revolves every 24 hours. It also has the very practical quick set date, and rapid time zone adjustment as well as hacking. Then there is the looks – it has the wavy dial like the SMP300, but in black, but has sword hands rather than skeleton ones. The two tone bezel turns in either direction, theoretically to track a third time zone (you won’t ever do that, but you can). You also get a similar looking bracelet as the SMP300, but without the easy to scratch large clasp. This watch also has an Omega rubber strap and deployant clasp, which is a valuable upgrade that does not come as standard. Condition all round is good, with just some minor marks on the non crown case side to report. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box – a little tatty as they all are of this period. Also included are the instruction book, a service receipt from June 2021 and the old spare parts that were changed, an Omega rubber strap and deployant and our Certificate of Authenticity.
This watch has been checked against the Watch Register and has not been reported as lost, stolen or implicated in fraud, and a copy of that certificate will also be included.
