An Omega Jump hour automatic men’s watch with Salmon dial, this is a scarce watch in Europe. Model reference 186.1230
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1999. We also have details of this model in the 1999 Wristwatch Annual by Peter Braun.
CONDITION
There are two main types of watches that use the term jump hour. Some cheaper watches just swap the hour hand for a disc, so it moves slowly though the dial aperture and takes an hour to fully turn. Others, like this one, flick though the hour change in milliseconds, meaning the disc is always visible and legible in the window. Needless to say which is better, but this is a better quality than most.
The movement is an Omega 1221, a 23 jewel automatic with micro adjustment and adjusted to five positions. The single hand shows the minute, and has a large hole so you can read the time on the hour without hiding the hour disc. It is set in a slim stainless steel case, enclosed by a sapphire crystal. The dial has lots of detail and is perfect – other than light surface scratches on the case the whole watch is in superb condition, and difficult to fault. The leather strap is new.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
