This Longines Admiral chronograph has the original bracelet, and the date of production has been verified by Longines themselves. Model number L3 603 4.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being sold to an Italian dealer in May 1999. This has been confirmed by Longines themselves, who are most helpful in this aspect. The recommended retail price for this watch then was CHF 1,290
CONDITION
The movement in this watch is marked L674.3, which is heavily based on the popular Valjoux 7750. This movement is used by many manufacturers (including this Longines we have for sale!). as well as automatic winding, you can hand wind this movement but the crown guards on the case do make it difficult – it is easier to shake the watch to wind it. You can also quick set the day and date via the crown. The case and bracelet are all stainless steel. The screw down case back is heavily embossed with the Longines wings logo, and does have a couple of tool marks where the case back has been removed. The bezel has a tachymeter engraved in it, which is infilled with black enamel, and non of the enamel is missing. All chrono functions are functioning perfectly, snapping back to zero. The white dial is crisp, with five applied stars above the Admiral sub branding, Each sub dial also has a polished outer ring, which catches the light nicely. The sapphire crystal is unmarked. The original bracelet is a good length and unpolished, as is the case.
