HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the rear of the lug we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1998. We have the instruction book for this watch too, but not the warranty card.
CONDITION
Often called the Bond Seamaster, this exact model is now more associated with the future King of England, Prince William. Reported to be a gift from his late mother, he has been seen wearing this specification many times. This is the mid size quartz model, so makes a great grab and go option while still being comfortable on the wrist as it is lighter and smaller than the full size automatic (which is the actual Bond model, worn by Pierce Brosnan in 1997’s Tomorrow Never Dies. In 1995’s Goldeneye Bond wore the Quartz version with a built in laser in the helium escape valve).
Regardless of who has worn this model before, the Seamaster design started life as a proper divers watch. Water resistant to 300M, unidirectional bezel, screw down crown and a flip out wetsuit extension built into the clasp. The movement is an Omega 1438, with quick set date and that is working correctly. This watch still has the antimagnetic dust cover over the movement, so often lost. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The case has a helium escape valve at 10, which unless you are doing deep saturation diver is not likely to be used at all. The sapphire crystal is unmarked. The dial is very good and has a wavy pattern embossed onto it, while the lume is excellent. There are surface scratches on the case, bracelet and clasp.
This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box, instruction book and our Certificate of Authenticity.
