HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the paperwork, which matches the serial number on the case back, we can accurately date this watch to being bought in July 1998.
CONDITION
The Cartier Santos is a classic, with a design that is directly dateable to the very first men’s wrist watch. In 1904 Brazilian aviation pioneer Alberto Santos-Dumont complained to his friend Louis Cartier that he struggled to read the time when flying when using a pocket watch. Cartier made him a watch to be worn on the wrist, which previously had been done but only for women, to solve this practical problem. Now it is considered one of the most recognisible and classy men’s watches available.
Available in either yellow gold, bi metal or as in this example full stainless steel. The crown has protectors either side, and the crown is also inset with a sapphire. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The white dial has the hidden signature on 7, but also has some crazing if inspected very closely. Everything is working correctly, including the quick set date. The movement is Cartier signed and decorated, but is based on an ETA 2671 which makes future servicing much easier and cheaper.
This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box, papers and our Certificate of Authenticity. The DVD is missing from the document pack.
