HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the production date stamped on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1996. This was the last year of Formula 1 production with this model. We have also found this model in the last TAG Heuer catalogue to feature the Formula 1 first series, dated 1995/1996.
CONDITION
If the fibreglass Formula 1 was a little too light for your wrist, TAG Heuer introduced the steel version with steel bracelet as a more premium option after a few years. It uses the same ETA quartz movement as the fibreglass versions, and shared the same weakness in the design – the fibreglass bezel wears and marks easily. However it is excellent on this example, if very stiff to turn. The dial is clean, but the lume on the hands has discoloured. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
