HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in June 1995. The 9F8 series of movements were introduced in 1993.
CONDITION
The Grand Seiko models go all the way back to 1960, and were designed to show off what Seiko could do with accuracy. Many Swiss watchmaking competitions stopped running after Seiko started entering and picking up a lot of prizes. In 1988 The Grand Seiko name was revived, offering the ultimate in Quartz watches. In 1993 the evolution continued with the 9F movements, accurate to +/- 10 seconds per year (and a fine tune facility if you were in a hostile climate to keep the accuracy correct! This watch has the date only version of the 9F movement fitted, and the date can also be quick set via the signed crown. The dial has a linen type texture to it, which we show in close up in one photo. The hands are wider than most quartz watches as the 9F generates more torque than standard quartz watches, so can power heavier hands. The stainless steel case has a mixture of finishes, and has not been polished. The sapphire crystal is unmarked. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown and buckle.
