HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in March 1994. We have also found this watch in the 1994 catalogue at a price of ¥32,000.
CONDITION
Air diver is an unusual name for a watch that had a 200m water resistance rating – is all diving reliant on air, even scuba diving? However if we ignore the Air Diver moniker and focus on the watch we have a scarce Seiko dive watch, one we have never seen before, in good condition. The main plus is the dial, which is almost like pure blue opal and very attractive. The hands are not the usual either, and you have matching blue parts on the unidirectional 120 click bezel. You can see that some of that blue paint has been worn on those bezel riders. The bracelet is on the smaller side, but has an in built ratchet extension system for sliding over a wetsuit, shown in the video, which can extend this for a larger wrist. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath, but if you wanted to fit this to a rubber strap it would also work. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner.
