Complete with the original sale papers, this railway pocket watch was made at the end of the Soviet Union and is stamped USSR.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the supplied paperwork we can accurately date this pocket watch to being sold in August 1993. As the watch states it was made in the USSR, and that state was dissolved in December 1991, we think the watch was made prior to 1993 (or they were using up the dials that were already made – this did happen, even at Vacheron & Constantin when they dropped the &).
CONDITION
American Railroad watches are very high quality movements put into lower quality cases, and are quite sought after. This is not one of those, but instead the image of a train has been stamped on the case back. We are making this really clear, just so no one thinks we are advertising a £600 watch this cheaply.
This watch uses an undecorated manual wind calibre 3602 with 18 jewels, which is running well. The gun metal case is all good, as is the dial and hands, and this watch has the pocket watch chain still fitted too. The utilitarian look shows that this was a watch for the people, not the high ups.
25% of the proceeds from this sale will be donated to charities helping Ukrainian refugees.
This watch will be supplied with the original papers, our basic presentation box, and our Certificate of Authenticity.
Please see the HD video for more detail. All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned. We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
