HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in July 1991.
CONDITION
Seiko created the sub brand Credor in 1974, to showcase the watches that used precious metals in the cases. That didn’t last too long, as the price of gold quadrupled in the 1970’s, but by 1991 the use of real precious metals was again possible. So the bezel is definitely 18k gold, and the links in the bracelet could also be 18k but we are not 100% sure on this – we don’t have the Credor brochure from 1991, and the links are not hallmarked or mentioned, so we will call them yellow metal to be on the safe side. We have taken a photograph of them with one of our digital microscopes to let you decide. The other interesting design choice in the bezel, which looks like a curb link chain. Both bracelet and case are unpolished, so may show some surface marks, and the dial is clean and original. The movement is Seiko’s 9581 quartz, which is all working well and we will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required – with integrated bracelets like these bracelet length is very important, as you wouldn’t be able to easily fit a leather strap. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown and clasp.
