With an unusual extra complication this Revue-Thommen Landmark is not your standard 90’s bi metal watch.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Rather handily the case back of the watch (which still has the original sticker in place), is designed for the Manaslu Expedition of 1991. Manaslu is the eighth highest mountain in the World, and the Nepalese government only allowed people to start trekking the route of a 110 mile ancient salt trading route in 1991, and this watch commemorates this.
CONDITION
The earlier Landmark series watches had a flip opn case, but by 1991 this was updated to a more conventional bezel. The 60 click bezel is bi directional, and is designed to assist map reading rather than a diver bezel, hence the points of the compass are used instead of numbers. In the centre of the watch is a rather unique feature t the Landmark watches – the centre disc turns once every 24 hours, acting as a day night indicator. Whilst this might be useful if you were in the Arctic with 24 hours of daylight, more realistically it makes it easier to ensure the calendar is not 12 hours out! You can quickset the calendar too, and the movement is from ETA. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath, and the centre links look to be gold capped rather than plated.
