HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in December 1991. it also carries the flame symbol on the caseback, as these were sold and advertised alongside the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, where Seiko was the official timers.
CONDITION
This is a complex watch, and will win just about any horological top trumps battle. There are nine hands, a chronograph that counts to thousandths of a second, day and date calendar (in English with both having quickset), a 24 hour indicator, an independently set hour hand, and it even tells the time! This is all working well, but might explain why watches featuring the 7T59 movement were only available for two years – they must have been expensive to make. You can see the main functions in the video. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet has been shortened in the past, but you could wear this on a leather strap if you prefer too – some variations do not have conventional lugs so this is a real bonus. The condition of this example is very difficult to fault, and with some 7T59 models being advertised at £1,000 plus this is priced very well for the condition. You can see some discolouration on the rear of the pushers to the gold plating – this is quite common with watches that have not been worn. We have left it alone, but it can be removed with a jewellers cloth if preferred.
