The 3000 model is not a TAG Heuer you see often, and this gold plated version is not a 3000 you see often! Model reference 937.406.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the production number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being in early 1990. This was the last year of the 3000, having first appeared as a Heuer model in 1983 before TAG became involved.
CONDITION
The 3000 range tends to get overlooked now, just as it did back in the day. It featured all the same styling clues as the 1000, 2000, 4000 and 6000 ranges such as Mercedes hands, lume, 200m diving capability, unidirectional rotating bezel and screw down crown, so maybe it was just not distinctive enough over its siblings? It could be that the larger case was not as fashionable back in the 80’s, whereas the opposite is true now. Regardless of that, it is always nice to be able to offer a 3000 model when it is as nice as this. Originally this would have come on a satin finished bracelet, but the plating was always quite thin and the bracelet has been replaced before we got the watch. The movement is a ETA quartz with quick set date, which is all working well. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred. The watch is shown on a very different strap in some photos and in the video.
