The lesser seen TAG Heuer 3000, with a bi metal finish, is one of the rarer late eighties Tag’s. Model reference 934.206.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in the fourth quarter of 1989. The 3000 series ran from 1984- 1989, so this must have been one of the final run.
CONDITION
Only the S-El models were higher in the TAG Heuer main line up than the 3000’s, yet some models like the 1000 series have surpassed them in the vintage watch price stakes. We are not going to speculate why that may be, but this is a good example. It is the full size case, with gold plated bezel, crown and centre links on the bracelet. This is all in pretty good shape, but the plating in the centre of the bracelet end links looks to have been polished off. The grey dial is very good, and the bezel still has a smooth yet positive click to it. This was rated as a 200m divers watch, so you also get a screw down crown and divers bracelet extension to allow you to wear it on the outside of your wetsuit. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown and clasp.
