The first generation, or Gen 1, was the first watch that Seiko supplied to the British Armed Forces.  Model reference 7A28-7120.

From the serial number and the issue number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being both made and issued in 1989.

The 7A28 movement is very collectible.  Not only was it worn by film characters in Alien, and James Bond wore a different version, but it was also the worlds first analogue quartz chronograph that could measure tenth’s of seconds.  Add in the ruggedness and it made it an obvious choice for the military.  The dial also has a P in a circle, and this shows the watch uses Promethium 147 for lume.  This material has a very short half life of just 2.62 years, so presents no potential danger to the health of the watchmaker any more, but does still have some glow (Tritium is 12.7 years, and radium 1,600 years for comparison!).  All functions including the pushers are working perfectly – this model can suffer with sticky pushers but not this example.  The case has light marks and the top fixed bar is slightly bent – not a lot, but better to mention it in case you haven’t spotted it.  The nylon one piece strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
