A very little worn 1988 Longines automatic solid gold cased men’s watch , with box, papers and wallet.

From the supplied paperwork we can accurately date this watch to have been sold on the 10th, September 1988.

This watch has had a very easy life.  There isn’t any marks on the solid gold case, the crystal also is perfect, and the original Longines strap and buckle is still fitted.  This is a very elegant watch, thin for an automatic winding movement, with simple two hand display and calendar.  One of the reasons it is thin is that is contains Longines very own L994.1 movement, which was the thinnest available for many years and is also beautifully finished.  The crown is topped with a cabochon stone, which we think is either sapphire or onyx.

La Grande Classique is a long running Longines collection, that is still available to buy today.  A quick search has just found a new, steel automatic would cost circa £1,000.  To see more of Longines fine history, see their official website.

35.7mm wide including the crown, 6.4mm thick. Takes an 18mm strap.
