Unusual to find a mechanical Seiko from this time that doesn’t have a day complication. Model reference 6308-8000.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in June 1986. This movement was in production between 1976 and 1988, so there is a chance it is from 1976, but the high model number (the 8000 in 6308-8000) makes us believe it is 1986.
CONDITION
Most Seiko mechanical watches have day and date windows, and it is one of the pillars of the Seiko 5 that has been in continuous production for over fifty years. So if you want the simpler date only version they are harder to find, especially in this condition. The movement is the 17 jewel Seiko 6308A, a close relative of the day date 6309, and these are automatic wind only so do suit an active person more. The case is all stainless steel, as is the bracelet, and both are in great condition – the graining on the bezel is very lightly done on these and we have never seen another than has survived so well. There is only one dink near the crown to report. The silver dial is clean and the hands still have some glow to them too.
