HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1984.
CONDITION
Maybe this is not the Omega Seamaster you envisage today, as they have spent the past 25 years making mainly big divers watches using the Seamaster name. But this is more honest to the original 1948 watches, and critically it is what the market wanted at the time. In 1984 big, bulky divers watches were only really bought by people who went diving! Most people wanted slim, quartz watches that were very comfortable and easy to live with, and Omega gave them what they wanted. Inside the 20 micron gold plated case is an Omega 1432 6 jewel movement, which is working correctly and easy to set via the crown – some earlier Omega quartz watches required buttons to be pressed in with cocktail sticks to set the time and date, but not this one. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The dial is clean, and the glass is free of any significant marks. The case back has a clear sticker on it, which has lifted in a few places – this can be removed should you wish. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown and buckle.
