HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1984.
CONDITION
An ultra thin watch is anythiing with a total thickness of 5.0mm or under. For years these watches were the preserve of the very wealthy, as only brands like Piaget, Vacheron Constantin and the like had the skills to make a watch so thin. Quartz technology made it easier to make such a watch, but not easy. But this switch in availability of thin watches explains the fashion change in the 1980’s, as the consumers flocked to buy something they could never have owned before. This Omega De Ville is bang on trend for 1984, and critically the integrated bracelet is long enough for most wrists. The dial is very good, with a light striped pattern. The movement used is Omega’s calibre 1377, which is all running well. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. One section of the bracelet links show wear – maybe these were added later, as the rest of the bracelet is very good. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown and clasp. This watch will be supplied with our branded and reusable zipped travel case and cleaning cloth, and our Certificate of Authenticity.
