This Longines Conquest chronograph bucks the trend from the mid eighties by having a mechanical movement when quartz was king.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the matching original guarantee paperwork we can accurately date this watch to being sold in 1987.
CONDITION
The watch is in good overall condition, with little to fault. The thick stainless steel case has few marks. The glass has the lightest scratch between 3 and 4. The bracelet is original, but has been shortened and is missing those spare links, and will be cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. Inside the watch is powered by a Longines badged Valjoux 7750 movement, which was also nearly killed off by the quartz crisis. There is a good article here on this. This movement has been used by IWC, Tudor, Heuer and Omega among many more, so it is well respected. The movement is working well, all functions working perfectly. The day wheel is in German only, and both day and date can be quick set.
When this watch was produced the fashion was for very small, slim quartz watches. A chunky, mechanical chronograph bucked the trend, which is why you will not find many of these about.
This watch will be supplied with a presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
