A nice example of a Seiko from 1983 that is absolutely stereotypical of that year. Model reference 6530-5280.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in December 1983.
CONDITION
If you asked what a 1983 watch looked like we would describe this piece. Rectangular case, gold plated and very thin, powered by a quartz movement. To understand this we have to look in context – to get a watch like this just a few years earlier would have meant getting an ultrathin watch from Piaget, Audemars Piguet or Vacheron Constantin – no one could make watches this thin otherwise, but advancements in quartz movements bought this style to the masses for the very first time. This is not quite ultrathin, as that is 5mm or under, but it is close. There is little wear to any of the gold plate, but there are light scratches to the bracelet as well as to the glass. the sides of the case also has some small marks. The time only movement is working well, and we will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet is full length and requires no special tools to adjust. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
