This fantastic 1982 Seiko 5, model number 7009-8153, has a deep blue dial with applied hour markers.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in January 1982.

CONDITION

The Seiko 5 model is the entry level automatic watch.  Despite that they have a day date function (quick set on the date), screw down case back to help waterproofing and usually come on a bracelet.  The bracelet for this watch had been replaced, and we have changed the poor quality replacement bracelet with a nice dark blue leather strap.  We have also changed the acrylic glass to reveal the deep blue dial, and our photos do not do this justice (they just show dust on the glass!)  The size is a nice fit for those who like to wear both vintage and modern watches – not too small, not too large.  The stainless steel case has light scratches from being worn, as you would expect, but nothing scary.  These Seiko 5’s are automatic winding only, with no hand wind capability.
