HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in February 1981.
CONDITION
In 1981 quartz was undisputedly king of mainstream watches, and Seiko were the pioneers in this technology (they launched the very first quartz watch in 1969, had the most accurate quartz movements in the Grand and Superior ranges, and continue to lead the way now with GPS watches). Now they are popular again, as people recognise the stainless steel cases have lasted well and the reliable movements make an excellent vintage grab and go piece. The bracelets are not always still with the watches, but this one is. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath, which we would say is essential for any folded link bracelet to ensure it is clean – the dirt finds every nook and cranny. The movement works perfectly and has a quick set day and date, and the date wheel is in English and roman numerals. The downside is a green tinge to the acrylic crystal, on the inside, and we are not sure if this can be removed. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner.
